about the tea

Thyolo Moto is a uniquely African version inspired by Lapsang Souchong tea from China. In this African context, Satemwa harvests the tea by hand, lets it fully oxide, and finally is smoked with guava wood to give it its distinct smoky, wooden flavour.

Certification and Cultivation: Conventional (pesticide-free, with herbicide use) Fair Trade, UTZ+ and Rain Forest Alliance Certified.

Ingredients

Black Loose-Leaf tea.

Notes

Thanks to the final step of the tea processing being smoked with guava wood, the overall flavour notes for this tea are smokey, malty, oak, and cedar as well as a very pleasant smoothness and softness.
Character: Enchanting, Distinct, Pleasant.

Brewing Instructions

Brew a 1.5 spoonful at 95°C / 203°F for 2-3 minutes.
